Larger species like grouper, snapper, and barracuda are also common. Look for various invertebrates like sea stars, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers. You might also spot crabs, lobsters, and shrimp.

  • Marsh Rabbits: Native to wetland areas, these rabbits are adapted to a life in and around water.
  • Bobcats: While more elusive, bobcats inhabit the region and may be spotted in more remote areas.
  • Jellyfish and Rays: In coastal waters, especially in the Gulf of Mexico, you may encounter different species of jellyfish and rays.

Shelling

During a Shelling & Sightseeing Charter, Captain Larry can take you to prime shelling locations, such as barrier islands, sandbars, and beaches, where they can explore and collect seashells. The southwest Florida coast is known for its beautiful beaches and abundant seashells, making it a popular destination for shell enthusiasts. "Growing up in Northern Ohio in a family of anglers I quickly learned the joy of fishing from my parents and grandparents. There are pictures of me fishing as far back as I can remember. By starting out in farm ponds and rivers then graduating to the "big waters" of Lake Erie and working at a local tackle store, I learned everything that I could about catching fish."
